Preeclampsia Blood Pressure Change in Normotensive, Gestational Hypertensive, Preeclamptic, and Essential Hypertensive Pregnancies

We compared patterns of blood pressure (BP) change among normotensive women, women who developed gestational hypertension or preeclampsia, and women who had essential hypertension to examine how distinct these conditions are and whether rates of BP change may help to identify women at risk for hypertensive disorders. We used antenatal clinic BP measurements (median, 14 per woman) of 13016 women...

Blood pressure in children of hypertensive and normotensive parents.

This study was conducted to compare the blood pressure (BP) of children (aged between 6 to 18 years) of hypertensive (n =746) and normotensive parents (n = 2238) in Iran. Blood pressure (BP), weight and height were measured. The mean systolic (SBP), diastolic (DBP) and mean arterial blood pressure (MABP) was significantly higher in children of hypertensive parents than controls in preadolescent...

Peri-operative blood pressure changes in normotensive and hypertensive patients.

Controversy surrounds the acceptance of hypertension as an independent risk factor for anaesthesia. In an attempt to identify variables that are associated with increased haemodynamic instability during surgery, the blood pressure profiles of 128 patients were analysed. The two variables that contributed most to the instability were pre-operative control of blood pressure and anaesthetic techni...

Climatic effects on blood pressure in normotensive and hypertensive subjects.

In a retrospective within-patient study, the arterial pressures of 174 normotensive and 50 hypertensive subjects in winter and summer were compared. Both systolic and diastolic pressures were higher in winter in the two groups but the differences were small and reached statistical significance only in the case of systolic pressure in normotensive subjects.
